This blog is part of a larger strategy: content marketing through knowledge sharing.
Content marketing isn’t about pitching,it’s about teaching. It’s the practice of consistently creating useful, relevant material that helps others while building visibility and credibility (Pulizzi, 2014; Rose & Pulizzi, 2011).
At Sky Island Project, my blog posts reflect how I think, how I work, and what I’m learning in real time. It’s not about flashy positioning. It’s about education. Each post gives potential clients, collaborators, and curious readers a sense of what I actually do and how I approach narrative research.
If you’re in the nonprofit, civic, cultural, or health space, you’ll see how I structure insights, how I frame human-centered inquiry, and how I prioritize emotional intelligence in research design. If you’re a consultant or creative doing your own thing, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes view of what it looks like to build a values-driven practice from the ground up.
This approach, writing as teaching, is supported by research and best practices. When done well, content marketing helps establish trust long before any formal engagement. It educates your audience, shortens the sales cycle, and attracts aligned clients (Pulizzi, 2014).
So this blog isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of the work. A place to document ideas, share what I’m noticing, and create an open door for future conversations.
